  I would give this doctor no stars but unfortunately I seem to be unable to do this. Saw Dr. Shivalingam a couple of weeks ago for a herniated disc causing severe sciatica. She was rude, unprofessional and condescending. I have seen specialists in the past and the good ones tend to be objective. When I asked Dr. Shivalingham questions about her opinions she became very defensive and refused to answer them. Regardless of whether or not she was able to perform a surgical intervention I believe she should have dealt with things in a more professional manner. I got a bit of 'I'm the doctor, you're the patient. I talk, you listen' from her. She seems to have a bit of a God complex. Maybe others will have better luck with her, but beware- her interpersonal skills are sadly lacking.

  I went to see Dr Shivalingam with severe sciatica from a herniated disc which was significantly impacting my ability to function and causing extreme pain. She was highly supportive and clearly explained the micro-discectomy procedure including all potential risks and I knew I'd met my Surgeon. Dr Shivalingam fast-tracked my procedure which was completed three days ago. I woke with no sciatica and today walked almost 4ks for the first time in months. She is well known for her pioneering work with brain surgery, but I'd highly recommend her skills for spinal surgery, not only a skilled Surgeon, but a warm and compassionate lady. Thank you for giving me my life back.
